I departed from the Katunayaka Airpot (CMB) at 01:20 AM (Colombo Time) in Thai Airways as planned. Immediately, rice was served with chicken curry, sweets, a bun and orange juice. The flight landed in Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok - BKK) at 6.30 AM (ICT - Bangkok Time). I could not look around the airport since the transit time was short. I boarded the flight which departed at 7.20. Here, I was served something that resembles a prawn Kottu and some dessert. Yummy! Coffee was soo nasty, so that I ordered an apple juice instead. I landed in Tan Son Nhat airport (SGN) at 9.30 local time.
I walked out of the airport and was lost for a few minutes! Finally, my Buddy (Mabel) and buddy manager (Vy) found me. We took a taxi through the city. Mabel handed me the pack which included a local SIM, a very useful and quite humorous 'How to Survive in Saigon' guide. Talking, we reached District 5, where my accommodation has been arranged.
We entered to my homestay house, a three story house+shop and met Quan, my roomie for the next four weeks. The guy was so cool and we talked for a while. After a bath, I gave my souvenirs and sweets to Mabel and Quan. To Mabel, I gave a bag with 'Sri Lanka' on it, a small purse, a key tag and another craft work. I gave Quan the perahara image and explained him about Esala Perahara who were like "Ohhh!!! Thanks a lot. This is too much, this is too much!" :-)
Then I had lunch with Quan's family. Fish soup with an expensive fish. Also there were the delicious chicken wings prepared by Quan's grand mother. After a fabulous lunch, I had a nap.
It started raining in the evening. We had dinner at 7 pm (the usual time here. Quan could not believe that we eat at 9-10 pm!). Plain rice, pork herbal soup and some delicious pork fries. The prok fries were soooo tasty! During dinner, some aunties of Quan visited us and one of them exclaimed "Wow. This guy is so handsome!" I was like "No kidding!" when Quan translated it for me!
Later I browsed some Internet, finished Feynman, talked to Huan about Breaking Bad and fell asleep.
